DECAFFEINATO (decaffeinated) Alps Coffee
15 pieces at 6.7 g = 100g per pack
Certified organic and FLO (Faitrade Labelling Organizations) fair trade
Alps Coffee's decaffeinated ESE pods are characterised by a pleasant and slightly more intense taste.
The blend of these pods consists of 90% Arabica beans and 10% Robusta beans, exclusively from Central America and South Asia. The coffee comes from local plantations that grow 100% organic and fair trade coffee. Alps Coffee is roasted in the Torrefazione caffè Schreyögg in South Tyrol.
To decaffeinate this coffee, the only process recognised as organic is the carbon dioxide process. This process is one of the most complex, but also the best, decaffeination methods to preserve the full aroma of the coffee. No chemicals are used. The raw coffee beans are first placed in a pressure chamber and exposed to steam. Then they are rinsed with 'supercritical liquid carbon dioxide' (STP). The carbon dioxide resulting from the combination of CO2 and water then dissolves the caffeine in the beans. During the drying process, the CO2 evaporates completely, so that only the pure beans remain.
Once the beans are completely dry, they are roasted like ordinary beans, gently and separately depending on the variety. The result is a round, medium-bodied espresso that is difficult to believe is decaffeinated. In addition, this coffee is particularly low in acidity.
For those who want to enjoy a decaffeinated coffee with an ESE machine without giving up aroma, intensity and taste, these pods are for you!
This blend is both 100% certified organic according to the EU organic farming regulation and certified by the Fairtrade Labelling Organizations (FLO).
